J. Gordon Matheson

J. Gordon Matheson, age 91, of Lakewood, CA, passed away Septemeber 27, 2014. He was born July 31, 1923, in Erin Township, Ontario, Canada; the son of Harry and Helen Matheson. He was a graduate with honors of the University of Toronto, School of Engineering. He worked as a general building contractor in the Lakewood/Long Beach area for 30 plus years, loving every minute of it. After he retired, his major accomplishment was authoring five family tree books to honor his ancestors and relatives. He was also a very active member in the Scottish Organizations, Clan Matheson and Clan Dunbar. He was a long time member of WOCMUG, the Orange County Mac User Group. He loved his emails. He is survived by two sons, John and Tim of Long Beach and Lakewood; daughter-in-law, Lisa; two granddaughters, Melissa and Emily; one sister, Ruth of Edmonton, Alberta; one brother, Allen of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Marion and his sister, Marian Marshall. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 4645 Woodruff Ave., Lakeowood, CA 90713. Interment will be somewhere in the Great White North so no one is expected to attend.
