

John Alfred Bean was received by The Lord March 17, 2012. He was the son of Franklin Gotwalse Bean born August 26 1862 and Clara Matilda Moss Bean born February 14 1877. He had one younger brother Daniel Paul Bean born May 9 1922 and went to The Lord October 11 2007. John was born in Graterford, Pennsylvania July 20 1917. His father was a farmer and moved the family west to Anamosa, Iowa when the depression hit and he lost the farm. John's father passed away February 6, 1933 and John went to work on his uncle's farm to support his mother and younger brother. In 1936 he joined the army and was assigned to the 2nd Cavalry out of Fort Riley, Kansas and continued to support his family. John served his country through world war II and the Korean conflict and retired from active duty in 1962 after finishing his enlistment at Fort Bliss, Texas. After retiring from the army John was hired by the El Paso school district and taught junior ROTC for the next 15 years and retired again in 1978. John is survived by his wife of 67 years, Olga Gonzalez Bean of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and two sons Joseph E Bean and Tom Bean as well as six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. John resided in El Paso, Texas for 40 years with his wife and moved to Lakewood, California with his wife Olga to live with Tom and Sharon Bean in 2004. John was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and just a great man all around. He will be missed dearly by all of us and will serve as an example for all of us on how to live a good and rightous life.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 1 pm at Luyben Family Dilday-Mottell Mortuary Chapel. Internment will be at Riverside National Cemetery.
