

John Morgan Stewart, age 94, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 14, 2012 at his home in Long Beach, California. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Theresa Stewart; son, Gary Stewart (Susan) and grandchildren, Michael Stewart (Angela) and Holly Foreman (Charles). He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alice Stewart; sister, Francis Boedeker; niece, Nancy Boedeker Martin; and great-granddaughter, Esme Stewart. John was a retired barber from Omaha, Nebraska and after he moved to California in 1969, he worked for several years for the city of Cerritos. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a tank driver, winning numerous medals, including three Bronze Stars. John was an avid sportsman, who in his youth, played minor league baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals organization. His greatest joy came in traveling and spending time with loved ones. John will be missed dearly by all who knew him. A viewing will be held Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Luyben Family Dilday-Mottell Mortuary, 5161 Arbor Rd., Long Beach. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 19, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn, Cypress, 4471 Lincoln Ave., Cypress. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Salvation Army and Disabled American Veterans.
