Michael Joseph Maloney (Joe) was born on July 16, 1928 in Greenwich, Connecticut to Michael and Elizabeth Maloney. He grew up there with his sisters, Mary and Julie. He attended college with a focus on accounting and business administration and he served four years in the Army National Guard. He met his future wife, Eleanor Desmond, when she moved back east from Long Beach, California to teach school. They were married in 1958 and moved to Long Beach where, ten years later, they were blessed with daughter, Kate, who was to become their pride and joy. After Eleanor’s passing in 1996, Joe was fortunate to find love again and shared his remaining years with Ginny Rodhner. He loved the ocean, the beach and the waves and enjoyed a long career as a ship agent with Transmarine Navigation. Proud of his Irish heritage and possessing a great sense of humor, Joe always enjoyed sharing a good Irish joke. Joe is survived by daughter Kate Maloney and grandchildren Haley Maloney and Michael Savage, longtime companion Ginny Rodhner, sister Julie Tucker & sister and brother-in-law Edith and Robert Daley and many loving nieces and nephews.
