Kelly Dorrell

Kelly Ryann Dorrell was born on August 2, 1985. Kelly graduated with honors from Millikan High School's Quest Program in 2003. She earned her English Literature bachelor degree from the University of California Santa Barbara (2003 - 2007). Kelly went on to further her education by attending California State University Long Beach from (2008 - 2010) where she obtained her teaching credentials. In high school she began tutoring children after school where she was loved, admired and respected by her students and teachers. Kelly's love and compassion reach the children she cared for. During her college years, she worked at a local preschool as well. Kelly worked as a substitute teacher for the Bellflower School District. Due to the lack of full time teaching positions, she worked at Miller's Children Hospital of Memorial Medical Center as a nurse's assistant. She was also bilingual in Spanish and was able to care for the non-English speaking children as well. The children felt loved and cared for by Kelly. Kelly's passions included attending live performances with her father Stephan at the Long Beach Playhouse and the Dodger games. She loved to spend time with her parents Rhonda and Jerry. She enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family. Kelly loved to cook and host parties. From any early age Kelly enjoyed concerts at Signal Hill park. While at the park, children would gravitate to Kelly because of her playful magnetism. Kelly is survived by her parents Rhonda and Jerry Montoya, her father Stephan Dorrell, her brothers Sunny Montoya, Casey Harrod, Craig Dorrell, as well as her boyfriend Dan Zapada. She was a loving, caring, vivacious woman, who positively touched the life of everyone who met her. Flowers are to be sent to the church, and donations to: Miller's Children hospital in Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
