Richard David Krapf

Richard David Krapf was born on June 20th, 1936 in Peotone, Illinois the third of five children. He delivered newspapers during his youth. Richard played one year of Junior Varsity Basketball at Peotone High School in the winter of 1951-1952 and he played two years of Varsity Basketball at Peotone High School from 1952 to 1954. He graduated from Peotone High School in 1954. After High School he worked for the next two years at Benett’s in Peotone before enrolling at Joliet Junior College in 1956. He graduated with honors from Joliet Junior College in 1958. Richard moved to California in 1959 and began working for the United States Post Office at Terminal Annex in Los Angeles in 1961. He lived in Whittier and attended Whittier College before transferring to California State University Los Angeles. He graduated from CSU Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History in 1965. Richard met Emma Flores in October of 1969, and they were married on June 27th, 1970. Their first child, David, was born on May 25th, 1971 and their second child, Patricia, was born on May 14th, 1972. Richard had his heart broken by his Chicago Cubs in October of 1984 and 2003. He saw his Chicago Bears win Super Bowl 20 in January of 1986 and saw his Chicago Bulls win the championship game in June of 1991, June of 1992, June of 1993 and 1996 and 1997 and 1998. He continued working for the U. S. Post Office before retiring from World Way at LAX in September of 1991. He began his second career as a Crossing Guard for the city of Lakewood in 1992 and retired from there in 2008. Richard and Emma traveled to Spain in 1995, San Antonio, Texas in 1997, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York, Boston and Montreal in 2000, China in 2002, Prague, Europe in 2004 and to Russia in 2006. Richard and Emma traveled to Chicago, Illinois to attend Richard’s 50th high school reunion in 2004. They celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary on June 27th, 2010. He was called Home by God and entered Eternal Life on April 18th, 2013.
