Aleta Joyce Brooks, age 86, was born in Gladewater, Texas on February 22, 1936, to James Alphus Phillips and Audrey (Money) Phillips. Joyce married Jack Brooks after graduating Gladewater High School. They had two children, Claudia Brooks and Keith Brooks. Joyce loved her family and was always happy to visit with them. Joyce also loved her twenty-five-year career with Gladewater I.S.D. and would remember the students even when they had moved on to graduation.
Joyce passed from this world on October 10, 2022. She will live on in our hearts and our memories forever.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Jack Brooks, daughter Claudia Brooks, sister Mildred (Phillips) Settle, and parents James Alphus Phillips and Audrey (Money) Phillips. She is survived by her son Keith Brooks, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
