

Mrs. Thompson was a business woman. She was the owner of Thompson’s Grocery on West Marshall Avenue from 1961 until 1988 when she gave it over to her son to make into a feed store. She always loved visiting with her customers when they would come in and they would become her family. She was also known for her sandwiches that she would make and sell at lunchtime to the oilfield workers that would come in to visit her. She married Virgil T. Thompson and he preceded her in death in 1974.
She is survived by one son: Virgil T. Thompson, Jr. of Longview; granddaughters: Vikki Lynn Greenhill and her husband Tim of Jefferson, and Kris Modisette and her husband Allen of Kilgore; grandson: Michael Thompson of Jefferson; five great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sons: Douglas Thompson and Allen Guy Thompson, and two brothers.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Terrell Pearson officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Lakeview Funeral Home. The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to her caregiver, Shawn Perkins and the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice for their loving care.
