Betty Jean Kelley

Betty was born on August 20, 1929 in Jefferson, TX to Loss Sloan and Cora Mae Chatham. Betty was raised in Jefferson, TX and married Norman Ross in 1947. Together, the couple had 3 children. Betty was a patient care assistant in various hospitals where she worked for more than 50 years.

In her spare time, Betty enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and cat. Her friends and family will always remember her as a strong and loving daughter, mother, and grandmother.

Betty is preceded in death by her: parents; husband, Norman Ross; son, Norman Chesley Ross; daughter, Linda Nancarrow; grandson, Norman Davis Gilbert; brother, Harvey Jernigan; great-grandson, Brandon Cooper.

She is survived by her: son, Garry Ross; sister, Johnnie Oney; granddaughters, Betty Shaw and Jennette Riddick; grandson, John Shaw; 5 great grandchildren: Courtney Sartor, Jessica Van Wagner, Tommy Smith, Megan McVady, Britney Coffman; 4 great-grandchildren, Rosemary Sartor, Mabel Van Wagner, Anniston Smith, Greyson Coffman.

A visitation for Betty will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, TX 75604. A graveside service will occur Friday, August 8, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Smyrna Cemetery, Diana, TX 75640.
