Clara Elizabeth Cook Landers, of Longview, Texas, passed away on September 24, 2025 at Parkview on Hollybrook, where she has lived since April 2018. She was a proud member of the Longview High School class of ’57 and a graduate of S.F.A.
She was predeceased by her parents John and Vera Cook; her brother John Cook, Jr.; her husband of fifty years, David Landers; and her 22 year-old cat, Selleck.
Elizabeth is survived by her nephew Glenn Cook (Jill) of Virginia; niece Julia Cook Webb (Andrew) of Clear Lake City, Texas; cousins Ken Cook (Barbara), Sandra Johns (Jim), Pat Berry (Glen), and Carol Hall (Tim). Other family members include sister-in-law Olivia Cook, nine great nephews and nieces and four great grand nephews and nieces.
Her best friend of 83 years, Jourdeen Henry and Olivia were her wedding attendants 57 years ago and have cared for her throughout her illness. The family wishes to thank Myrna Graham, the staff at Parkview on Hollybrook, and Hospice of East Texas for their loving care during her final illness.
Graveside services will be at Memory Park Cemetery on Highway 80 in Longview at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 27.
Memorials may be given to your local animal shelter, her favorite charity, in Elizabeth’s name.
