Don was born on November 18, 1927 in Paducah, Texas to Robert and Ruth Gibbs. Don was raised in Paducah, Texas and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University and Southern Methodist University. He served 2 years in the United States Army. He married Mary Lou Crawford in 1955 and the couple had 2 children. He was a banker and became an entrepreneur. In his spare time, Don enjoyed being outside gardening. He was a master gardener and also volunteered in Hideaway Lake on various beautification projects. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving father and grandfather who loved fun and laughing and being together.
Don is preceded in death by his: wife, Mary Lou gibbs; son, Todd J. Gibbs; brothers, Wesley Gibbs, Rufus Gibbs, and Gene Gibbs.
His last couple of years were spent at Wesley House Assisted Living in Lindale, Texas and he continued his green thumb to the end. The family is very grateful for the support and care the Wesley House staff provided to our Dad/Papa.
