Mr. Berlin was born August 23, 1938 in Marion County, Missouri to Gladys Lee Miller Berlin and Clyde Edward Berlin. Floyd attended Monroe City schools and served his country in The United States Navy. He married his “sweetie pie”, Judith Evelyn Hill on June 8, 1958 and together they created a beautiful family. In October 1968, Floyd packed up his family and headed south to Texas. Longview is where the Berlin family called home for the past 53 years. Floyd developed a very strong work ethic at the early age of eleven while working on a local judge’s farm. After moving to Texas, he continued this work ethic by attending Kilgore Jr. College while holding down two jobs. Floyd spent well over 40 years supporting his family by traveling 49 of our 50 United States as owner/operator of Berlin Trucking. He briefly retire about a decade ago but he was never content “not working” so until a week before his death, Floyd continued to work daily in the parts department at Bufkin Truck Service. While not at his place of work, he spent his spare time mowing and tinkering around his 5 acre place of residence called the “Berlin Compound”. You could often find him surveying the property on his “jitney”! Floyd was fondly known for his sense of humor, strong work ethic and stern hand.
Mr. Floyd Berlin was preceded in death by his parents; son, Edward August Berlin; brothers, Harold, Herman, John and sister, Shelia. He leaves behind his “sweetie pie” of 63 ½ years, Judith Berlin; daughters Betty and husband Cody Reavis, Raquel and husband Wayne Carter, daughter-in-love Michelle Folzenlogen Berlin Osburg all of Longview; brothers John Litzau of St. Louis, Mo, Wes and wife Dorothy Berlin of Longview, Joe and wife Chris Berlin of Springtown, Tx; sister Carol Piatt of Amarillo, Tx.; grandchildren Kristofer McCain of Longview, Kija McCain of Los Angeles, CA, Tristan Berlin of Arlington, Joseph & Macy Reavis of Longview; great grandchildren Dax McCain and Jett Reavis of Longview, Jordan Hicks of Mesquite; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
