Franklin Leon Hulsey Sr.

Franklin Leon Hulsey, Sr. of Kilgore, TX passed away on January 13, 2015 at a local hospital. Mr. Hulsey was born February 2, 1929 in Garvin, OK to Oscar and Katie Stevenson Hulsey. Throughout his life, he loved music, it was really the love of his life. In his younger years, he would play shows and perform on the local radio stations. He also served his country, joined the Army and fought in the Korean War. He married Mary Margaret Stevenson in 1957 and she preceded him in death on April 17, 2009. He retired from Kilgore Ceramics after 37 years of employment.

He is survived by his son: Franklin Hulsey, Jr and his wife Marilyn of Grand Prairie, TX; daughter: Robbin Hopkins and her husband Tom of Liberty City; sons: Roger Hulsey of Kilgore, Mike Hulsey and his wife Kelly of Mt. Vernon, Thomas La Strapes of Kilgore, Patrick La Strapes and his wife Paula of Kittanning, PA; daughter: Launa Dalton and her husband Ivan of Kilgore; twenty two grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home, Longview, TX, followed by a time of visitation with the family in the coffee room at the funeral home after the services.
