

He was born July 25th, 1936 in Rock Island, TX, to Gilbert Aptle Baker and Ray Lobelia (Hunt) Baker. He was a graduate of Franklin High School in 1955.
George served in The United States Army and had a rank as a SPC 7. George was married to Eveline Lambright in 1958 and had 2 children. He retired as a manager over construction (cable and splicing repair) at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 33 ½ years. George was a proud member of the NRA. He enjoyed working on his property and in his shop in Rusk, TX. He was always eager to challenge others in a game of 42 dominos. He was passionate about faith, farming, wildlife, road trips, hunting, fishing, the great outdoors, friends and helping others but his love for his faith and family remained the center of his life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, son, co-worker and friend.
Those left to cherish his memories are his devoted children Beverly A. Johnson; daughter, Jeffery A. Baker (Talia); son; his cherished grandchildren, Shane J. Johnson (Sara Brown); grandson; Jeffery A. Baker (Louise); grandson; Shannon L. Rachal (Alex); granddaughter; Jessica M. Mathis (Justin); granddaughter; Gilbert D. Baker (Abigail); grandson; Jakob W. Baker; grandson; his cherished great-grandchildren, Melonie Baker, Landon L. Rachal, J. Allen Baker III, George Baker, Madalyn Baker, Lillie L. Rachal, Jack Baker, Geremiah Baker, and Logan L. Rachal. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents, many siblings, Troy Johnson, son-in-law.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17th, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Lakeview Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens in Longview, TX.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 18th, 2026 at 2:00 PM Lakeview Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens at the with Pastor Danny Warbington officiating, graveside service to follow at the Memory Park Cemetery in Longview, TX.
