Guindolyn Loraine Hester Hopper, age 77, of Ida, Louisiana, entered into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Longview, Texas, on November 9, 1947, she was the daughter of Belva Krueger Hester Betts and Richard Thomas Hester, Jr.
Guin was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, and mother of 4 and grandmother to 11 grandchildren. She was a 1965 graduate of Fair Park High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Home Economics in 1969. After her graduation she raised her family and went back to school to further her education earning an MCD, Master of Communication Disorders, from LSU School of Allied Health in Shreveport, Louisiana. She worked at Irving Place Rehabilitation and other rehabilitation facilities, Northwest State School, and North Caddo Medical Center in Vivian. She specialized in the treatment of patients with language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. In addition, she served as a Rehabilitation Program manager before her retirement. She was also an excellent cook who shared her love of cooking and special recipes with her friends and family. She loved her home in the country, where she enjoyed gardening, growing roses, irises, plums, peas, and corn, and raising chickens, ducks, and guinea hens. She had several dogs and cats throughout the years and left behind her beloved 3 dogs and cat when she passed. A devoted follower of Christ, she rejoiced in sharing her faith, the scriptures, and the beauty of God’s outdoor creation with her family — children, grandchildren, and friends. Her gentle spirit will be missed by all.
Guin is preceded in death by her mother and father as well as grandparents, Mr. and Mrs H. B. Massingill and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thomas Hester, Sr. She is survived by her husband Dale Hopper of Ida, LA; her brother Richard Thomas Hester III (Marsha) of Baton Rouge, LA; her sons Kevin Kihneman (Sarah Joy) of Cedar Park, TX, and Jason Kihneman (Sarah Elizabeth) of Hickory, North Carolina; her daughters Jenny Schroeder (Eric) of Nacogdoches, TX and Julie Kingsbury ( Zachary) of Austin, TX; her grandchildren: Timothy, Katelyn and Benjamin Kihneman; Samuel, Henry, Max and Charles Kihneman; Emily and Jessy Schroeder; and Clara and Willa Kingsbury; her niece Lauren Hester Estle, and nephew Richard Hester, IV; stepdaughter Karen Pierce of Boynton Beach, FL; step-grandson Kayne (Katelyn) Pierce, and step-great grandchildren Paisley and Piper Pierce of Rockwall, TX.
