Henry Maurice Stone, 99 + 361 days, of Tyler, Texas, passed away on June 4, 2013 in a local hospital. He was born on June 8, 1913, near Mineola, Texas to George Rayborn and Lena Mae Johnson Stone. He would have celebrated his 100th birthday on Saturday. Mr. Stone worked in the shipyards in and around Orange, TX during WWII. He later moved to Houston and worked until his retirement for the US Post Office. Mr. Stone enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching the Texas Rangers on tv, and his Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Pollard United Methodist Church in Tyler.
He is survived by a nephew: Harold Little and his wife Penny Lee Rudd of Tyler; nieces: Sandra Pulling of Longview and Virginia Dickson and her husband Charles of Clearlake. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Mary Ellen Stone.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorials to be made in his honor to your local Meals on Wheels.
