Jerry Wade Reed

Jerry Wade Reed, 65, of Diana, TX passed away on August 27, 2014 at his home. He was born on March 14, 1949 in Wilmot, Ark to Lamb and Lela Reed. Jerry grew up in Wilmot and graduated from high school there. After high school, a friend convinced him to go with him to go to Kilgore College with him, so Jerry moved to East Texas and went to Kilgore College. While attending college, he met the love of his life, Twyla Jean Lovell and they were married in February of 1969. Later that year, he was drafted into the Army and served in Vietnam. After serving his county, he moved back to East Texas were he and his wife settled down and went to work for Lone Star Steel in 1971, where he worked until his retirement in 2008. Jerry enjoyed sports all of his life, from playing basketball in high school, watching them on TV when he could, but really enjoyed playing golf after his retirement.

Jerry is survived by his wife: Twyla of Diana; daughter: Angela Reed and her husband Brian Dollison of Diana; daughter-in-law: Sara Reed of Diana; grandchildren: Branden Reed, Blane Reed, Riley Isaac, and Dalton Brewer all of Diana; brother: Bonnie Reed and his wife Joyce Ann of Payton, CO; brother: Elton Reed and his wife Linda of Pine Bluff, AR; sister: Betty Sadler of Wilmot, AR; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son: Bryan Reed and brothers: J.L. and Charles Reed.

A time of visitation with Jerry’s family will be held from 3-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Lakeview Funeral Home, with graveside services to follow at 4:30 p.m. at Memory Park Cemetery.
