Johnnie Ray Steed

Mr. Steed was born April 2, 1944 in Winnsboro, Texas to Tom Steed and Annie Mae Glanden. Johnnie was a lifelong resident of East Texas and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1962. He retired from the City of Longview in 2010. He attended Emmaus Baptist Fellowship and served as Senior Deacon. Johnnie enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing with his grandkids, and bowling. Johnnie was dedicated to the family and was a loving and gentle man.

Mr. Johnnie Steed was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerald Steed and David Weaver; brother-in-law, Jo-EL Sonnier. He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Nicki Steed of Longview, TX; sons, Mike Steed of Longview, Tony Steed and wife Jennifer of Hallsville, TX; grandchildren, Isaac Knox, Kylee Annette, Haley Elizabeth, Olivia Grace Steed of Hallsville, TX; brothers, James and wife Lee Ann Barker of Redwater, TX and Roye and wife Lesley Barker of Marietta, TX; sisters, Dr. Shirley Strange-Allen and Woodie Thorton of Winnsboro, TX and Bobbye Sonnier of Westlake, LA; best friend of 70 years, Bobby Jackson of Leesburg, TX; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Johnnie was an honorable husband, father and friend, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday June 19, 2025 at Lakeview Funeral Home 5000 West Harrison Rd. Longview, TX 75604.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Friday June 20, 2025 in the chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home.

Followed by a graveside service at Lakeview Memorial Gardens 5000 West Harrison Rd. Longview, TX 75604.
