Marilyn Yvonne Beard, 85, of Longview, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020 in Lindale. Marilyn was born July 8, 1935 in Manila, Arkansas to A.H. McCann and Pauline Elizabeth Ashbrook McCann. Marilyn’s family was everything to her. She was the true definition of a homemaker. She always had breakfast, lunch, after school snacks, and dinner ready for her family and raised five wonderful boys. She also welcomed anyone and everyone into her home. She would even play right along when the kids from all over came to the house. They were all considered her family as well. Marilyn was also an excellent piano player. The boys can remember getting off the school bus and the windows would be open and hearing the beautiful piano playing by their mother. She also played piano for Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Longview and Fellowship Baptist Church in White Oak. Marilyn was truly a sweet soul and was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a rose bush that she loved getting roses from her sons for any special occasion or gifts telling them, “Just a rose will do.” This was her way of teaching us respect and recognition for others. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene M. Beard; brothers, Hyatt and Lanny McCann; and sisters, Reba Smith Dame, Alice Hinesly, and Ann Mullins. She is survived by her sons, Don Beard (Lola), Terry Beard (Jean), Bruce Beard, Mark Beard (Michelle), and Brandon Beard (Angie); 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members who loved her dearly. The family would like to thank Lindale Health Care Center and staff, Traditions Hospice and staff, Chaplain Andy, and her special nurse, Dottie White for their loving and compassionate care during Marilyn’s final years. A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at Lakeview Funeral Home. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Eugene.
