Mavis Loraine King

Funeral services for Mavis Loraine King will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Valley View Baptist Church 1602 Alpine Road, Longview, Texas 75601, the Rev. Tim Lindsay officiating. Interment will follow the service in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. King was born, February 16, 1922, in Wells, Texas, to Samuel G and Carrie Bell Cook Allen, and passed away March 26, 2016 in Longview, Texas. She was an excellent cook, and worked in the cafeteria at Eastman for many years. She was an active member of Valley View Baptist Church in Longview for 16 years, and also enjoyed playing Yahtzee and working word find puzzles.

Mrs. King is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 40 years, R. B. King, a son, Ronnie King, and all of her siblings. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Bobby King and wife Glynda of Rockwall, Texas; Jerry King and wife Linda of Longview, Texas; and Teddy King and wife Cynthia of Gun Barrel City, Texas, grandchildren, Jarrod King and wife Tracy; Jef King and wife Marcella; Melissa Ponder and husband Jeff; Laura Gertz and husband Josh; Courtney Lewis and husband Ben; and Caleb King; great grandchildren, Jensen King; McKenna King; Brinley King; Marsden King; Tristan King; Grant King; Ivy King; Brett Ponder; Natalie Ponder; Jozef Gertz; Jazmyn Gertz; and Lantzen Gertz; as well as numerous nieces; nephews, and other loving family members. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. service time at the church.
