

Services for Mike will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home with Chaplain David Reader officiating. Interment to follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
Mike was born December 10, 1958 in Tulsa, OK to Raymond and Shirley Parker. Within a few years, the family moved to Grapevine, TX where he began attending elementary school. Mike was a fun loving and happy child. Growing up, he was kind and was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone. He loved animals and all sports. He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf. Mike graduated from Grapevine High School in 1977 and excelled in track and cross country. He was in the GHS Sports Hall of Fame for track. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Colorado. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, he enrolled and graduated with a degree from Kilgore College.
Mike worked for the Dallas County Parks and Reclamation where he was a supervisor in Los Colinas. Years later he worked for Wheat Lumber Co. in Grapevine before being diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Mike enjoyed spending time with friends and loved his family very much.
Mike is survived by his parents: Raymond and Shirley Parker of Liberty City; sisters: Cindy Westbrook and her husband Don of New Diana and Becky Wilson and her husband Joe of Liberty City; nieces and nephews: Adam Westbrook of Arlington, TX; Stephanie Hearnsberger and her husband Jackson of Kilgore; Andrew Westbrook of Nacogdoches, TX; Brittany Wilson of Liberty City; and Sarah Westbrook of Waco; great niece: Michelle Hearnsberger of Kilgore; as well as a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.
The family would like to thank The Willows in Kilgore for their loving care of Mike and also Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassion and kindness during this difficult time.
