Mose Jeffery, Jr.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mose Jeffery, Jr., our beloved father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He departed this life on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the age of 85, surrounded by loved ones.

Mose Jeffery was born to Essie Lee Williams and Mose Jeffery, Sr. on July 26, 1940, in Gilmer, Texas. He was raised by his mother and his stepfather, Roger Webb. To his family, Mose was affectionately known as “June Bug.” As a young man, he participated in the sports he loved, including football and track. He graduated from Gilmer High School in 1958 and went on to trade school in Sacramento, California, where he trained as a surveyor. He worked for the U.S. Government for several years before returning to East Texas, where he was employed by Lone Star Steel. He proudly retired after 21 years of service.

Mose loved music and dancing, especially at family gatherings, which brought him great joy and laughter. He also had a sweet tooth, with a special love for ice cream. In East Texas, he was a proud member of the East Texas Truckers Club. Known for his bright yellow truck, he earned the nickname “Babe” among friends in the community.

Mose lived his life rooted in strong faith and was dedicated to honoring and serving God. He became a member of Murry League Baptist Church in Ore City, Texas, where he served faithfully as both usher and deacon. Later in life, he relocated to Baytown, Texas, under the care of his daughter Melissa.

He now joins in eternal rest his beloved parents, Essie Lee Webb and Mose Jeffery, Sr.; his stepfather, Roger Webb, Sr.; his son, Aundra Jones; his brother, Johnny Webb; and his grandson, Malik Jeffery.

He leaves to cherish his memories siblings Diane Webb, Freddie Webb (Linda), children Tony Jeffery (Cynthia)—Fort Worth Texas, Tereisa Houston—Desoto Texas, Melissa Hamilton (Royce)—Baytown Texas, Mose Jeffery, III—Prairie View Texas, Eric Smith (Kristie)—Dallas Texas, grandchildren Tynisha Jeffery, Marquita Jeffery, Shamise Williams (Stephen), Royce Hamilton (Shaquia), Valencia Fisher (Kerry), Litasha Hamilton Crowder (Michael), De’Shana Hamilton, Destinee Jeffery, Denzel Citizen, Mose Jeffery, IV, Montrell Jeffery, Aaliyah Jeffery, Cerah Jeffery, Adrienne Smith, Mariah Jeffery, Elijah Smith, Amiya Jeffery, nine Great Grandchildren, Family and Friends.
