Nancy Marie Bowen

Nancy Marie Bowen, 54, of Longview, passed away May 18, 2015 at her residence in Longview. She was born August 17, 1960 in Wilmington, Delaware to Richmond Martin Bowen and Louise Landes Bowen. Nancy was a member of the Pine Tree High School Class of 1978 and graduated with her special education degree from the University of Texas Tyler and taught special education at Pine Tree and retired as a Kindergarten teacher from LISD. She was a faithful assistant in the Special Friends Department of First Baptist Church Longview for five years. She was a faithful member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic educational organization, where women celebrate the advancement of women, educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, and loans, and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations. Having been a member since 2008, she had served as Guard and as Vice President of Chapter HZ in Longview. Nancy was also an active member and officer of the Alpha Delta Kappa Theta Chapter, a service sorority dedicated to the promotion of educational excellence.

She is survived by brothers: Michael Bowen and his spouse Meg of Memphis, TN, and Tim Bowen of Longview; nieces: Kathryn Lareau and her spouse Haley Gilmore, Alexandra Dunn and her spouse Emma Prest; nephews: Michael Bowen, Jr and his spouse, Krista and Patrick Dunn and his spouse Branagan; seven great nieces and nephews, as well as a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.

A time of visitation with Nancy’s family will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015 with funeral services being held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
