Patty Blalack was born in Mattoon, Illinois on January 7, 1929. Her parents were Harold and Faye Wilkins. At the age of ten Glenn Hite became her step-father. She graduated from Mattoon High School and on December 13, 1947 married Jim (Sonny) Blalack. They started their lives together traveling in the oilfield business. Their travels took them through west Texas, Oklahoma, and costal Louisiana and in 1958 settling in Longview, Texas and where they made their home and raised 3 children, Twyla Fried, Jymmie Blalack and Robin Blalack. They were blessed with 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Patty was a homemaker and as the children grew up, she began to work outside the home. She worked for Archway Cookie Co., Cargill Egg Co., Marathon LeTourneau, and was a caregiver for the elderly. She was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church, Northside Baptist Church, and North Longview Baptist Church.
Patty passed away December 17, 2020 after a lengthy stay in the hospital. She was preceded in death by Jim Blalack; her father, Harold Wilkins and mother, Faye Hite and step-father Glenn Hite. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
