Robert “Bob” Hanson, 79, of Longview, Texas, passed away on April 13, 2026. Born on December 6, 1946, in Hallock, Minnesota, to Bessi and Wendall Hanson, Bob was raised in Moorhead, where he later attended Moorhead State College. In 1969, he began a distinguished 23-year career in the United States Army, rising to the rank of E-8 Master Sergeant. During his service, he was stationed in Europe, worked as a nuclear missile engineer, and trained troops during Desert Storm in Puerto Rico. That same year, he married the love of his life, Judy Fetzko, and together they built a strong and loving family, raising three children. Following his military career, Bob dedicated another 23 years of service as a distribution clerk with the United States Postal Service.
He was known for his intelligence, strong work ethic, and warm, joyful personality. Bob enjoyed spending his time watching TV, playing games on his tablet, and engaging in conversations about music, history, and his military experiences. He had a deep love for books especially science fiction and fantasy and was always ready with a clever joke or one of his signature “dad jokes.”
Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, and a kind, happy soul who brought warmth and laughter to everyone around him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Fetzko; his children, Jessi Hanson, Jeffrey Hanson, and Brandyn Hanson; his grandchildren, Joseph, Jeffrey Hanson Jr., Ethan Hanson, and Jaylin Hanson; and his great-grandchildren, Angelo, Zenaiola, and Jaynie.
