Wanda Jean Pool Shell left this world bound for Heaven on November 23, 2023. She was born to Jim Pool and Lenora Threadgill Pool on May 28, 1944 in Gilmer, Texas. Most of her life was spent as a homemaker. She raised three daughters who further blessed her with 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Wanda loved taking care of her home and family and always managed to make her house comfortable and inviting. The holidays were always made even more festive for her family through her creative energy and special talent for decorating and entertaining. She enjoyed hosting dinner parties for her many friends and family and attended to every little detail with such perfection that one would have thought she were a professional caterer and party planner. She was additionally blessed with a green thumb and knew how to landscape and design beautifully. This went along with her great love of the outdoors and the beauty of nature. When she wasn’t entertaining or doing yard work, she was either fishing, crafting, or dancing with her many wonderful friends at Dick and Alice’s Dance Hall. She enjoyed just visiting and listening to good music even when she was no longer able to “boot scoot.” She absolutely loved dressing up and especially enjoyed her western attire. Her zest for life was contagious to all who were lucky enough to have known her.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Glenda Layton and Pamela Reeser, her first husband and father of her children, Willard Jones, her husband and love of her life, Seaward J. (Casey) Shell, and her long time special friend and dance partner J.C. Medlin. Those left to cherish her memory are daughters Teresa Hebebrand (Randy), Carol Williamson (Thurman), and Brenda Castleman (Andy) all of Gilmer, grandchildren Shannon Hebebrand (Amy) , Crystal Hebebrand (Jacob), Julie Williamson, Matthew Morgan, and Ava-Claire Castleman as well as one great grandchild, Draven Scoggin.
There will be a celebration of her life on Sunday, January 7th, 2024 from 2:00-5:00 at Dick and Alice’s Dance Hall in Big Sandy, Texas as per her wishes. Friends and family are invited to bring a covered dish and join us in sharing fond memories
