Emily Flaherty of West Los Angeles passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022, at the age of 90. A native of Granville, Iowa, she was one of nine siblings. As a young woman, Emily managed her family’s small-town drugstore after her pharmacist father took ill and passed away. She later moved to California where, while working in a dentist’s office, she met her husband, Joe.
A loving and caring mom and wife, she was known for her warm smile and friendly disposition as well as her Catholic faith and devotion to the Blessed Mother. Emily is survived by her children Jean (Tim) Coburn and David (Laurie), as well as three grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, March 4, 2022 from 2:30 to 4:30 pm at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Mortuary (1218 Glendon Ave, Los Angeles, CA, 90024). A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, March 7 at 11 am at St. Timothy Catholic Church (10425 W. Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA, 90064) with interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Culver City.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Emily’s name to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Los Angeles or to a charity of the giver's choice.
