Grace Theresa Wheeler

Grace Theresa Wheeler, of Los Angeles, CA was born on February 13, 1921, in Newark, New Jersey. She was affectionally known as Candy, Aunt Gracie, Aunt Terry, Auntie, and Candy Basket. She was the daughter of Edward and Hermia Johnson and had two brothers Raymond and Herman. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the age of 101.

She graduated from California State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. She worked as a Social Worker for the County of Los Angeles for 25 years and 7 months. She retired in March of 1986. She enjoyed dancing, collecting small figurines, traveling near and far, but her passion was painting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Hermia and brothers, Raymond and Herman. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Genevieve and Bettye, her nieces and nephews, Sharon Walton, Darryl Johnson, Tamara Bossett, Eric Johnson, Pamela and Terrell Hood, and grand-nieces and nephews Niles III, Tiffany, Felicia, Terrell II, Justice, Jelani, Jamil, and Jillian.

The family would like to thank Dr. Elke Senegal and the staff of Sunshine Heights Board and Care for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final years.

Her ashes will be resting at the Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park. Her memorial marker will be placed near the fountain at the Garden of Serenity at Pierce Brothers at a later date.
