Judith Lacey Roberts

Judy Sherwin, age 82, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, resilience, and love. She was the devoted mother of Martha “Sandy” Saunders Sherwin (Andrew Kalt) of Oakland, CA, and Michael John Sherwin (Michelle Thomas) of Lakewood, CO. Judy was formerly married to Michael Sherwin (deceased) of Cleveland, OH, and together they raised two beloved children. She was a proud and loving grandmother to James, Joseph, and Jack Sherwin.

Originally from Cleveland, OH, Judy relocated to Los Angeles in 1990, where she embraced her new home and community as a proud Angeleno for over 30 years. In Cleveland, her love of the water led her to become a scuba diver and the owner of a powerboat for cruising Lake Erie.

In California, she discovered a passion for ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, which she practiced until the end of her life, delighting friends and family with her beautiful and thoughtful creations.

Following her divorce in her 30s, Judy embarked on a remarkable professional journey. She worked as a photojournalist and later managed a commercial production studio in Cleveland. While raising her children, she pursued and earned an Executive MBA from Case Western Reserve University. Her curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit led her into the emerging field of holography, where she worked for a large corporation marketing holograms before launching her own company and relocating to Los Angeles to build industry connections.

Judy cherished her family and friends above all, but she also had a deep love for travel—especially to Japan and New York City— as well as fine dining, and celebrating the December holiday season. Her warmth, intellect, and artistic spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
