Mallory Jennifer Nicholson died from cholangiocarcinoma in Westwood, CA on June 17, 2025, with her father, Ross Nicholson of TX, and her mother Stephany Hamrell of OC at her bedside. She is also survived by her brother Ryan Nicholson of San Luis Obispo, CA. She would also include her very close friends from UCI and her two beloved cats, King Louis and Fifi. Mallory was born August 1969 in Long Beach, CA.
As a young girl, Mal could hardly wait for June when she would fish with her father and grandfather, and bake scones with her Nanny at their summer house on Malachi Lake, Ontario, Canada.
We wish she had finished her children's book about Fleur, the confident, adventurous flea who lived among the French markets that Mallory so loved.
Mallory graduated from Calabasas High School {CA} and University of California Irvine (UCI) with a BA in Environmental Psychology. She also worked in commercial interior design and commercial real estate before creating jewelry using antique and vintage pieces. She was within four days of opening a new retail shop in Laguna Beach, CA when she was diagnosed with cancer. She had just returned to California to be near the ocean and her beloved friends.
Mallory always had a deep interest in inspiring young girls. She supported various programs through her "Dessert First" inspirational group held throughout Orange County in the early 2000's.
A celebration of Mallory's positive and joyful life will be held on her birthday at Laguna Beach--her favorite place.
Loose flowers will be accepted for the simple ceremony--send to S.L. Hamrell at 2399 Via Mariposa W.,3G, Laguna Woods 92637.
The family asks that donations to honor her be made to any young girls' organization.
Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes----she appreciated every effort.
