about 4 years old, her father moved the family to Witchia, KS (where her mom was originally
from) due to WWII. When WWII ended and her Dad came back from being deployed in
Germany, he moved his family back to the West LA area and they lived at the family house on
Psomas Way. She graduated from Ventura HS in 1956 and soon got a job with Douglas
Aircraft. She went to England with her job and spent 3 years there. She had great experiences
and the time of her life in England. She was married on March 18, 1966, and had two children,
Stacy and Robert. After her divorce, she and Stacy and Robert lived at the Psomas Way home
with their Nana. Marilyn absolutely sacrificed everything for her kids. Nothing was more
important to her than her kids. She was at every sporting event the kids were in - we mean
EVERY event. She would stay up late at night typing the kids’ school papers, wake up early on
Sundays to drive Robert on his paper route, drive the kids to school even though it was a block
away, and go for drives in the rain searching for puddles. She was her kids biggest cheerleader
and supporter. She loved family traditions, which started at the yearly summer trip to Vacation
Village in San Diego, with Nana driving everyone there in her 1973 Chevy Nova driving 55 MPH
the whole way, stopping for French dip sandwiches in San Juan Capistrano. She would take
Robert on fishing trips even when there was high winds and bats flying in her hair. She helped
Robert start his law enforcement career by letting him pull her over everyday she came home
from work and write her a ticket for running the stop sign. She supported her kids becoming
police officers, throughout their careers, and she even became a reserve LAPD police officer
specialist in 2007. She worked at Weyerhauer Insurance and State Farm insurance as an
administrative assistant and was well respected. She lived with Stacy at Stacy’s house in Chino
the last 14 years of her life. She was a very caring, loving, and giving Mema to 7 grandchildren
(Alex, Faith, Troy, Autumn, Jamacyn, Katelyn, Ryan). She started and continued a tradition of
giving her grandkids $5 for every year they were old in a Sees candy box. The grandkids so
looked forward to getting their See's candy box on their birthdays. She also had her Christmas
Eve tradition of giving pajamas to everyone. It was very important to her to be involved in family
events and to be around family. She loved Yosemite, sunsets, and the moon. In May 2021, she
was put on hospice care. She fought hard and with all of her strength to spend as much time as
she could with her family, but on September 7, 2021, she passed away. She was loved by many;
she will be missed. As she always said, I won’t say goodbye, but until I see you again. We love
you Mom, Mema, Marilyn. Power power and 1022.
We’ll end with a song she wrote to sing when she tucked her kids in: You loved me Lord Jesus
right from the start. In daytime and nighttime you protect me all right. You loved me Lord Jesus
and I’ll do my part, to be the one to bring joy to your heart.
