Edwin J Patague, born April 29th 1954, passed away quietly on his 63rd birthday, Saturday April 29th 2017. Ed (his preferred name as he didn't care to be called Edwin and only his closest friends are even allowed to know what his middle initial even stands for) graduated Morro Bay High School in 1972, then attended Cal Poly SLO. He eventually found his life's calling as a certified Airframe and Powerplant aircraft mechanic which led to a fulfilling career with American Eagle based at the San Luis Obispo Airport. Beyond work, time in the sky as a licensed private pilot only furthered his lifelong love affair with aviation. He loved turning wrenches on planes but in truth was interested in any and everything mechanical be it small items, guns, cars, motorcycles, or aircraft. He was an avid shooter and a Range Master at the SLO Sportsmen's Association range off Hwy 1. He was also an accomplished country western dancer, often providing newcomers to the Grad's country music nights with their first friendly introduction to the two step. He lived his life with a selfless passion for sharing the benefit of his own experience and imparting his hard earned knowledge to anyone who might gain from his instruction. He was proud to have introduced many to new joys including but assuredly not limited to shooting and dancing. Ed made countless friends, knew lots of folks, and will be profoundly missed by the extensive numbers of people whose lives he touched, improved, and blessed. Never a fan of Facebook, Ed would never have bothered to electronically "write on someone's wall;" Ed was a man who preferred to leave the indelible markings of true friendship directly on their hearts.
