James was born on April 14, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from Kent State University James moved to California in pursuit of following Jesus and lived at Saint Andrew’s Abbey in Valyermo, California. He was called into a different type of ministry when he fell in love in Tehachapi, California. James married Dianne in September of 1982 and received his daughter Amy at the start of their family. James was blessed with daughter Sarah in 1983 and his son Daniel in 1989. James and his family attended the little brown church in the mountains, Mountain Bible Church for over twenty years. James worked for the State of California for 24 years, retiring as a correctional counselor. James, Dianne, Sarah and Daniel moved to the beautiful coast of San Luis Obispo after retirement and spent many of his days walking the Embarcadero in Morro Bay and enjoying the estuary of Los Osos where he spent the remainder of his years. There he welcomed his two granddaughters Starlyn and Rhyder Lynn and loved taking his grandsons Noah and Nolan to the beach where their parents had once played in the waves, sand and rocks.
James is survived by his wife Dianne and three children: Amy Wilson, Sarah Leksan and Daniel Leksan along with his grandchildren Noah, Nolan, Starlyn and Ryder Lynn. He is also survived by sister Karen Michalak and nephew Jay Jay and many other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service for James was held at Calvary Chapel in Arroyo Grande on January 31, 2022 at 11:00am.
