John David Duffey passed away following heart valve surgery, with his wife, Teresa, and his granddaughter, Avery, at his side. Born in Yakima, Washington, John spent part of his childhood and school years in Southern California before settling in Spokane, where he lived for most of his life, and later in Los Osos, California. He retired as President of employee-owned Spokane Roofing Supply, having started in the yard and helping build the company over many years through hard work and dedication. John loved adventure and travel, whether on road trips, family vacations, or riding his motorcycles throughout the Pacific Northwest. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and for many years he and his family cherished their cabin in Colville, Washington. He had a lifelong passion for collecting classic cars, hot rods, and vintage and neon signs. John was well known in his Daisy Hill neighborhood, where his festive Halloween decorations were a highlight each year, and he always made sure to give treats to every dog that walked past his porch. He was preceded in death by Lisa Howell, whom he was proud to raise; his parents, Richard Duffey and Helen Cobb; and his brothers, Doug Duffey (Marcia) and Joseph Duffey, who passed in infancy. John is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa Duffey; his siblings Mike Duffey (Vangie), Debbie Finn (Ken), Kathy Murray, Tom Duffey (Ilene), and Bill Duffey (Kathy); his granddaughters Sadee Schneider and Avery Williams; and his three great-grandsons, Joseph-Riley Sullivan, Elijah Schneider, and Gabriel Schneider, as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved him deeply. Known to his family simply as Papa, John was the heart of his family and a proud parent, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He took great care of those he loved and will be remembered for his strength and devotion to family.
