

Lee Edward Monson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, at the age of 77. He was born on January 31, 1948, to Fred and Norma Monson and was raised in San Luis Obispo, California.
Lee was married to his best friend and eternal sweetheart, Heidi Monson, for 56 wonderful years. Their marriage was a testament to love, devotion, and partnership.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Norma, and his brothers, John Monson and Ted Monson. He is survived by his sisters, Lori Monson and Elaine Rasmussen; his children, Tani and Derek Ruvalcaba, Mika and Ricky Bollinger, Matthew and Julie Monson, Amber Miller, and Luke and Kayla Monson; and his grandchildren, Keryn and Joe Nelson, Colby Kerns, Chloe and Wyatt Spencer, Brenna and Ryan Blackmon, Dakota and Austin Quick, Chase Bollinger, Ryder Monson, Tyler Monson, Carter Miller, Heidi Miller, McKinley Monson, and Rilynn Monson. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Karson Nelson, Jensen Nelson, Audriana Ruvalcaba, Kaylie Quick and the Spencer's  having another great grand daughter on the way.
Lee graduated from Brigham Young University, where he played rugby, and went on to earn a master’s degree in business finance. He served honorably in the United States Navy as a pilot on the USS Kitty Hawk and later worked for DynCorp International who contracted to Cal Fire as a pilot flying the OV-10 aircraft.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Lee loved football and played for the Oregon Ducks, and his love for rugby continued at BYU. Above all, he cherished time with his family and found immense joy in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and thrive. His love for aviation , sports and Family brought joy to his life and his faith in the Savior guided his life, and he served others with a Christ-like heart.
Celebration of Life:
A celebration of life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Atascadero, California, on January 8, 2026, from 4 PM to 6 PM.
Lee's legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all who knew him.
