

Mario was born in Bolinao, Pangasinan, Philippines to the late Norberto and Pricila Cefre Lazo. Mario is survived by his wife Lita Calixtro Lazo, son Mark Calixtro Lazo and daughter Melissa Calixtro Lazo, brothers, Ulysses Lazo of Australia, Leoveriano Lazo of Hawaii, Robert Lazo of South Carolina, Desiderio Lazo of Philippines, and Cornelio Lazo of Hawaii, sisters, Espenita Lazo Catabay of Hawaii and Renelda Lazo Raposas of Hawaii.
Mario was a professor and volleyball coach at the National University of the Philippines prior to migrating to the United States where he proudly served in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Division. After his military service Mario moved to Los Osos, CA where he resided for the past 34 years. He was an agricultural farmer throughout San Luis Obispo County for over 15 years. Mario then became the owner of an assisted living facility. Mario had a love for volleyball, tennis, cooking, and chess. He also enjoyed and loved to travel with his family.
Mario was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Los Osos, CA. He was also a strong supporter of the Maharlika Christian Fellowship of Los Osos, CA. He was also a member and former officer of the Bay Osos Filipino Community Association (BOFCA).
Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 4-8 p.m. with a Prayer at 6:00p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park-2260 Los Osos Valley Road, Los Osos, CA, 93402.
On Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. a celebration of his life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church-490 Los Osos Valley Road, Los Osos, CA, 93402 followed by his internment service at the Los Osos Valley Memorial Park-2260 Los Osos Valley Road, Los Osos, CA, 93402
Reception will be held at the South Bay Community Center -2180 Palisades Avenue, Los Osos, CA, 93402 immediately following his internment at 1:00p.m.-4:00p.m.
