Todd grew up in Oxnard, California where he graduated from Oxnard High School. He then attended UCLA, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology. After UCLA, he attended the California School of Professional Psychology where he attained his PhD.
He spent the first part of his career as a Forensic Psychologist at Atascadero State Hospital. Todd had worked with the hospital for several years when he and his wife Lily, decided to take their best shot at opening a private practice. Once established, he continued to do consulting work as a Forensic Psychologist as well as treating patients.
Todd met his wife Lily, a fellow psychologist, through social circles within the local psychology community. They were married in 2002 and spent the past 22 years together. Todd & Lily had their very own fur child, a wiener dog named Alexander the Great. They took great joy in having Alex participate in the wiener dog races. He was by their sides, at their feet and on their laps for 16-1/2 years.
Todd and Lily shared a passion for heavy metal music and enjoyed attending many concerts together. Todd especially loved to head-bang to his favorite artist, Ozzy Osborne.
Todd also had a passion for antiquities. He even proposed to his wife Lily with a unique Roman ring that he had collected. He acquired such an extensive collection of antiquities that he displayed them for sale at a local boutique.
His passion for antiquities led to a desire to visit Europe where most of these treasures were originally from. He and his wife Lily were able to make this memorable journey before his untimely passing.
Todd was very well read and often immersed himself in research about subjects he found interesting. One such endeavor resulted in him writing and publishing a non-fiction book called “Legally Stoned”. The book took an in-depth look at various legal methods people have used over the years in pursuit of that elusive euphoric escape.
Todd was preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Thies. He is survived by his wife, Lily. Also, his mother Kathy; his sister Laura and husband Cliff; and his two nephews, Matthew; Christopher, wife Breanna, and their two children, Wyatt and Savannah.
