

Albert was born on October 25th, 1941 to Albert Parrish Sr. and Mary Helen Floyd-Parrish in Nashville, Tennessee. Albert graduated from Pearl High School before joining the U.S. Air Force from 1962-1966. He continued his education at Tennessee State University and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in History in 1968.
From the year of 1968 until 1994, Albert “Al” Parrish spent 25 years working as a law enforcement professional demonstrating a career of accomplishment and scope with the Drug Enforcement Administration. He made significant achievements in international training programs around the world including Curacao, Jamaica, France, and Germany.
He was instrumental in the establishment of the National Association of Black Narcotic Agents, (NABNA). He was the Co-Founder of the organization along with 7 of his colleagues. They believed that in order to effectively address issues facing Black Special Agents it was important to formalize and foster a means of communication and support for all those affected by violations of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 across DEA offices around the nation. Throughout his years of service, and after, Al continued to be involved with those within the organization and mentored many Special Agents and colleagues over the years.
He settled in Frankfort, Kentucky where he worked as a Case Specialist within the Fayette County Drug Court. When he wasn’t working he spent his time coaching Tennis at Kentucky State University where he took pride in his work and was known as a mentor and advocate for the students and faculty on campus.
He could always be found supporting his Thoroughbreds, rain or shine during the football and basketball season.
He is survived by his children, Camille Horton, Patrick Parrish, Michael Parrish and spouse Rebecca, and Allison Parrish. His sisters, Traci Parrish and Pecolia Parrish.
Albert is also survived by four grandchildren, Tanzya, Palace, Morgan and Amanda as well as six great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 2PM - 6PM on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd, Louisville KY 40222. Inurnment will take place at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY at a later date.
