Mrs. Alice E. Brooking, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 16, 2025 — the very day she was born into this world 86 years earlier. On the day God first blessed this earth with her life, He lovingly called her home. Alice was born in Louisville on October 16, 1939, to the late Elihue and Glendola Wiley. A woman of unwavering faith, Alice devoted her life to serving God, her family, and her community.
Alice was a lifelong and faithful member of Farmdale Church of the Nazarene, where she worshipped, served, and shared the love of Christ with everyone she met. Her steadfast faith guided her through every season of life and was a source of strength and inspiration to her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her. She lived each day with grace, humility, and a heart for others, reflecting God’s love in all she did.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, George P. Brooking; her sons, Timothy P. Brooking and Gregory W. Brooking; and her sister, Armethia Bass.
Alice leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family. She is survived by her sons James “Rusty” Brooking (Lisa), John Brooking (Elaine), Jeffery Brooking, George Brooking, and Kevin Brooking (Jennifer); her grandchildren Jessica Walker, Renee Brooking (Baron Jones), Jonathan Brooking (Courtney), Dustin Brooking (Shannon), Caitlyn Fultineer (Bradley), Chelsea Brooking (Justin Belt), Carl Brooking, Cameron Brooking, Gabrielle Brown (Ryan), and Naomi Jeffers; and her cherished great-grandchildren Alex (Haley), Bayley, Malikai, Braydon, Cheyenne, Damien, Daisy, Abigail, Xavier, Grayson, Carson, Paisley, Kairi, Evan, Emmerson, and Casey. She is also survived by her brother Edward Wiley (Brenda) and a host of extended family and dear friends.
Alice’s greatest joy was her family. She was the heart of every gathering, whether sharing Sunday dinners, celebrating milestones, or offering a listening ear and warm hug. She had a gentle spirit, a servant’s heart, and a quiet strength that inspired everyone around her. Her legacy of faith and love will live on through the lives she touched.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Hwy. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Mrs. Brooking will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family finds comfort knowing that Alice is rejoicing in Heaven, reunited with her loved ones, and resting in the arms of her Savior.
