Alva Eugene Edwards

Al was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. For much of his time he was stationed in Japan. He worked for Alcoa Aluminum for more than 35 years before his retirement. Al was a member of Summit Heights United Methodist Church for the last 15 years, and a member of Fairlawn United Methodist Church in Evansville, IN for the 45 plus years prior. He was also a Mason and member of the Reed Lodge in Evansville, IN.

He loved to sing, participating in barbershop groups through the years and in his later years he passed the time by painting. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret “Peg” J. Atkinson; sons, Eric (Michele) and Rich (Brittany); grandchildren, Jarrod, Nathan (Lorren), Kelsey (Dan), and Reagynn; also several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his parents and his brother, Jerry Edwards.

A memorial service to celebrate Al’s life will be held on Friday March 25, at 4 PM, at Summit Heights United Methodist Church, 7400 Outer Loop, Louisville, KY 40228. A visitation will immediately follow the service and will go until 7:30 PM. The inurnment will take place at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Evansville, IN at a later date.
