

She is survived by her husband of over 63 years, retired Judge and former Jefferson County Commonwealth’s Attorney Edwin A. Schroering, Jr.; their children, Jacqueline K. Schroering, Michael K. Schroering (Holly) and Lynne Schroering Slone (Michael); grandchildren; Coleman Slone, Allyson Slone, Kingsley Schroering and Grayson Schroering; three sisters, Margaret McDonald, Bettye Jobson and Toni Jackson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was born March 21, 1932 in Fairfield, Nelson County, Kentucky, the daughter of Lawrence Rapier and Mary (Greenwell) Coomes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings, James Coomes, Leo Coomes, Louise Marksbury, Tom Coomes, Tilly Lechner, and Minnie Dennis.
Alyce attended the Nazareth School of Nursing, trained at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, and was a registered nurse. Later in life, she was an Antique Dealer and owned Alyce’s Antiques on Bardstown Road in the Highlands of Louisville. Alyce was a great cook, an avid gardener, and loved a good party.
A small graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Road Louisville, Kentucky 40205. All of her friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of her life that afternoon from 12p.m.-3p.m. at Paramont Clubhouse, 11720 Paramont Way, Prospect, Kentucky 40059.
