Amy was born in Lincoln County, KY to Esther Osborne Mullins and Woodrow Mullins.
As a child she moved to Kurtz, IN with her family. She attended Clearspring HS and graduated from Ahrens HS.
Amy is survived by her husband, Robert Price; daughter, Loretta Roscoe (David); daughter-in-law, Julie Price; grandchildren, Rachel Roscoe and Evan Price; sister, Gail Wilson; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by sons Steven Price and Anthony Price; mother, Esther Osborne Mullins Kirts; stepfather Melvin Kirts; sisters, Clara Roll, Josephine Ruth; stepsister, Phyllis Barnard; and brother, Wally Mullins.
Amy grew up in the Kurtz Church of the Nazarene in Kurtz, IN where she began her lifetime of church involvement as a young teen into adulthood. As a member of Greenwood Church of the Nazarene she taught Sunday School classes for children and adults for many years. She also served as Missionary President and Church Board Secretary. Amy was a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Lexington, KY. Her church family was important to her and an integral part of her life.
A love for learning stayed with Amy through her school years and her employment. She began as a volunteer Reading Tutor through the PTA at her children's elementary school. Later JCPS employed her at several different elementary schools as a Reading Tutor and Math Tutor. Amy enjoyed the challenges of helping children learn.
Amy loved her family deeply and enjoyed family get togethers. Whether making special dishes, sharing recipes, socializing, greeting new babies in the family, or playing games (volleyball or jump rope) Amy never met a stranger. She made people feel welcome and special. Amy had a special way with cats and dogs. Almost like a "cat whisperer". She thought of creative names for the family pets and took special care of them. In later years Amy loved watching out the front door the birds, squirrels, rabbits and neighborhood cats that would visit her front yard.
Amy's care and love for her husband and children was lived out in many small everyday ways. Showing her grandchildren how to cook certain foods, babysitting grandchildren, driving her children to school events, working to provide college resources for her children, supporting her husband while he went to university, embracing her in laws and nephews and nieces were just a few of the special things that she did for us.
Visitation for Amy will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
