

Mr. Arnold Addington Murphy, 93, of Prospect passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Forest Springs Health Campus in Louisville. He was born February 11, 1924 in Fidelity, KY to Dewey and Ressie Murphy. He was an only child and was preceded in death by his parents.
Arnold was a member of the greatest generation, proudly serving his country in World War II as a member of the United States Navy. He served active duty during the Pacific actions. After serving he married Belle Wright and they began their life in Lexington. He completed his degree in Engineering at the University of Kentucky. He joined AT&T at Southern Bell for a lengthy career. He retired from Southcentral Bell in 1987. He remained active after retirement in the Pioneers, an engineering group of former telephone employees. He continued with the naval reserve, reaching Commander and retired with the naval reserves. In retirement he enjoyed golfing regularly at Sleepy Hollow, tinkering with electronics and volunteering with various organizations. He and Belle enjoyed gardening together for over 60 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 70 plus years, Belle Wright Murphy of Prospect; a son, Rick Murphy of Bowie, MD and a daughter, Tamara Murphy King, of Marble Falls, TX. Additionally, he leaves 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
