

Lee was a retired Captain in the US Navy, having served submarine duty for much of his career. He later retired from engineering positions with American Air Filter and Pfeiffer Engineering. Lee then embarked on a calling of service and worked as a chaplain for many years for the Shively Fire and Police Departments, and more recently, the US Secret Service. He was the Regional Director of the Kentucky Crisis Response Team, and was involved with the International Conference of Police Chaplains, Kentucky Federation of Fire Chaplains, and Jefferson County Fire Chaplains. Lee was a minister of the Free Methodist Church, and was currently the Minister of Congregational Care for Middletown United Methodist Church. In addition, Lee was a Staff Associate for Heady-Hardy Funeral Home and its’ affiliates for the last 13 years.
Lee is survived by his wife of 53 years, Diane Conway Twombly; a son, Matthew Twombly (Angie); grandson, Nathan Twombly; and a cousin, Donna Pegago.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 28th from 2-8 pm at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 15th at 11:00 am at Middletown United Methodist Church, 11902 Old Shelbyville Road, followed by burial at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central (Radcliff).
