Austin Abell

Austin Abell, age 97, of Louisville passed away on Thursday September 24, 2020. He was born on January 23, 1923 in Ball Hollow, Kentucky to the late Arthur and Jessie (Underwood) Abell. He was a wood mill foreman for the Cook Lumber Co., a member of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Vernie Mae Abell. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Phil Abell (Debra) and Dennis Abell (Shirley); a sister, Madge; and a granddaughter, Lauren Abell. There will be no visitation. A graveside service with full military honors for Mr. Abell will be held at 1 pm on Friday October 9, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery with burial to follow.
