

Barbara Lee (Taylor) Hagans passed away September 26, 2022, in Las Vegas, Nevada at Centennial Hills Hospital after a protracted battle with cancer. Barbara was born July 27, 1949, at Old Louisville General Hospital to Robert Marion and Marcella Jeanette (Gales) Taylor. She was raised in Louisville’s Newberg area with her two brothers and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School.
Barbara enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. During her service on active duty, she was stationed at several military installations within the continental U.S. and overseas where she attained both Bachelor and Master’s in Business Management. She later served in the Kentucky Air National Guard for 15 years at the 123rd Airlift Wing located on Grade Lane in Louisville where she attained the rank of 1st Sergeant. Barbara met and married Dr. Val Hagans, a local Dentist and attained a Master’s in Teaching from Bellarmine University, graduating with honors. She taught at various schools in Louisville. She was an active member of Forest Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and the only female member of the Newberg Chapter Louisville Corvette Club. Military service moved Barbara and Val away from Louisville.
A visitation in Barbara's honor will be held Sunday October 30, 2022 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home 4400 Bardstown Road Louisville, Kentucky 40218 from 11AM-2PM. A funeral service will be held directly after at 2PM located in the chapel of the funeral home.
