Barbara L. Hettinger

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert Elroy Shepherd and Iona Lois Shepherd Lea.

Barbara and her husband owned and operated a home building business. They were deeply involved in their community and were longtime members of Crestwood Methodist Church. She was a member of the Pewee Valley Women’s Club, the Oldham County Homemakers, and early members of the Jay-Ceettes.

She loved traveling, shopping, and spending cherished time with her grandchildren. A talented and proficient seamstress, she found great joy in sewing. Above all, Barbara will be long remembered as a woman of deep faith and devotion.

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Gordon; her children, Cathy Stoess (David), Terry Hettinger (Alisa), Linda Kennedy (Bob), Gordon Hettinger, Jr. (Amy Vallin), and David Hettinger (Setrina); her grandchildren, Emily Woods (Dustin), Eileen Kennedy, Michael Stoess (Brittany), Nick Hettinger, Ethan Hickey (Ashley), Ryan Hettinger, Daniel Stoess, Hayden Hickey, James Breaden III (Sarah Ann), Jett Hettinger, Jude Hettinger, and Sarah Hettinger; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Shepherd; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1pm Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40218 with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Visitation will be 11am until time of service.
