He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Mary V. Taylor, who passed May 27, 2008 and daughter, Gloria Jean Grimes, who passed April 17, 1971.
“Bernie” is survived by his children, Billy Taylor, Jimmy (Valentina) Taylor, Marianne (Garry) Brown, and Bob (Beth) Taylor; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
His career as a color stylist & wood finisher in the coatings industry spanned over 80 years, where he gained an international reputation throughout the furniture industry. He retired from Reliance Universal, where he spent much of his active career.
Bernard was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army, participating in the invasions of Leyte, Philippines and Okinawa, Japan.
He was our rock and inspiration and leaves an incredible legacy.
Funeral services for Mr. Taylor will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2016, in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. Entombment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. and Wednesday, from 9 a.m. until time of services, at the funeral home.
