

Bernard F. “Bernie” Telenko of Prospect, Kentucky passed away on November 24, 2025 at the age of 89. Born February 27, 1936 in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, to George and Josephine Telenko, Bernie was the oldest of three brothers.
Bernie was a devout, lifelong Catholic whose faith was central to his life and shaped how he raised his family, conducted his professional affairs and formed his circle of friends.
Bernie earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Rome and spoke several languages. His extensive education allowed him to travel the world and live in Italy, the Philippines, and visit numerous other counties.
Upon his return to the United States, Bernie began a career in logistics, transportation and warehouse management. He married, started a family and built his professional life with companies including Baxter Travenol, Topco, Jewel Food Stores and Stone Container Corporation. He also started his own logistics consulting company, Telenko & Associates, which he ran until he was hired by Amgen Pharmaceuticals. After retiring from Amgen, Bernie taught at Sullivan University in Louisville, Kentucky, where he was head of the Department of Logistics.
In his spare time, Bernie was an avid golfer, baseball enthusiast, little league coach and vocalist. He was a member of numerous church choirs and vocal groups.
Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Loretta (Babbini) Telenko, his two sons, George (Evelyn Ballesteros) and Dominic (Darcy), his grandchildren, Vincent and Sophia, his brother, Richard, and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Services, located at 7410 Westport Road, Louisville, KY 40222-4100, on December 3, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted at St. Albert the Great Church, located at 1395 Girard Dr, Louisville, KY 40222, on December 4, 2025, starting at 10:00 am.
