Bernice Gribbins Wise

Wise, Bernice Gribbins, 88, went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 15, 2016. She was born January 7, 1928 to Elic and Stella Gribbins. She graduated from Louisville Girls High School and became a bookkeeper for the family business, Gribbins Auction House. Bernice loved spending time with her family and traveling. She was a member of Southeast Christian Church, was the past president of Kosair Ladies Oriental Club, and was a past board member of Kosair Children’s Hospital Auxiliary. Bernice also enjoyed gardening, crafting, and bird watching.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Aleck and Jim Gribbins; and sisters, Lonnie Carter, Dean Lenhart, Clorsey Berry, Audrey Rigdon, and Edith Kinard.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 68 years, Russell P. Wise; daughters, Debra Rayman (Mitchell) and Karen Troth (Thomas); grandchildren, Alexander Rayman (Cindy), Shawn Rayman (Hope), Rebecca Spanos (Rob), Rachel Norton (Travis), Anna Owens (Mike), and Jennifer Troth; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Doris Gribbins; sisters-in-law, Betty Gribbins and Doris Summers; many nieces and nephews; and family friend, Claris Udd.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions in Bernice’s name to Southeast Christian Church or Kosair Children’s Hospital.
